After several wars Rome conquered Carthage and its empire. So Rome fought to survive and conquered its enemies. When Rome captured Carthage, it took over that empire and ruled most of the Mediterranean. Rome took over the rest of the of the Mediterranean by conquering Egypt and Greece.
