The Memorial has also been the site of many famous political events. Go stand at the top of the steps, find the marker, and stand where Dr. Martin Luther King stood when he made the "I Have a Dream" speech. Standing at the top of the steps is also a great spot to take photos of the mall, the reflecting pool, Washington Monument, and the Capitol. Then walk over to the side and visit the Vietnam and Korean War memorials.
