Passwords came with version 4. Choose the type of Tamagotchi Town that`s compatible for the version you have. You cannot, for instance, take your V3 to the Town created for the new V5 Tamas. But there`s lots to do even for old Tamagotchis like the V3. Have fun.

Tamagotchi v4.5 is an upgraded version of v4 which I believe is very revealing and intrieving while v5 is a whole new set that has similar features to v3 combined with v4. In my opinion, I'd prefer v4.5.
