It is easier to paint before gluing, but then there is the problem of getting the paint all over your fingers, as it can be quite difficult to hold onto such a small piece. If you paint the pieces while they are still on the sprue, it leaves little plastic bits, unpainted where you break it off the sprue when you have finished. The best way is for you to glue together the parts that would be easy to reach, (i.e. nothing in the way) then when you have painted them, add on the bits that would have blocked painting the rest of the model. Paint in stages, while gluing is the best idea basically.

Just add as much glue to the paint as necessary. The glue will change the opaque-ness of the colour.
