The wound roll in Warhammer 40k gameplay is very important as it determines if an attack successfully damages an enemy unit. Rolling high increases the chance of causing damage, while rolling low may result in the attack being ineffective. Mastering the wound roll is crucial for strategic gameplay and can greatly impact the outcome of battles.
In Warhammer 40k, wound rolls determine if an attack successfully wounds a target. Players roll a dice and compare the result to the attacker's Strength and the target's Toughness. If the roll meets or exceeds the required number, the attack successfully wounds the target.
feel no pain, the rule that lets you take a 4+ roll on an unsaved wound
Always wound on a specific roll (usually 4+) no matter your strength and the targets toughness. If you would normally would wound the target on (example) 4+ (without poison) and have poison 4+ or better you may also re-roll.
shooting: declare the squad firing & what weapon you are firing, name your target , measure for distance, roll to hit & to wound
It means if your unit takes a wound (after armor saves) you roll a d6. On a 5+ you ignore the wound, -4 take wound as normal. Doesn't work against wound suffered from attacks that normally ignore armor saves, example: AP 1 and 2, power weapons, rending wounds, monstrous creatures, etc.
Roll 1d6 and Whatever it is, that's the Str
In WH40k a poisonous attack always wounds on the value listed. For a poisonous 4+ attack a roll of 4 or higher will wound regardless of the defender's toughness or the attacker's strength. For close combat attacks if the attacker's strength is equal to or better than the defender's toughness the to wound roll may be rerolled. Note: a poisonous 4+ unit will never wound on a 3 or lower no matter what the strength of the attack or toughness of the defender.
Instead of wounding on a number decided by comparing the strength of the weapon vs the toughness of the target, poisen weapons wound on a given number regardless of the numbers. Poisen weapons also get to re-roll the damage roll if the strength of the weapon is equal or higher than the toughness of the target.
I in Warhammer stands for Initiative which in close combat defines who hits first. It also defines how much you must roll to steal Initiative from the person who deployed first.
if you mean 40k then you may be getting confused with rending or crack shot. rending: on a roll of a 6 to wound the weapon automatically causes a wound to the target regardless of its toughness and counts as AP2. against vehicles an armour penetration roll of 6 allows a further D3 to be added to the total score. effectively meaning a rending weapon can kill almost any target. crack shot: the target may not make cover saves against shots from a unit with crack shot and the firer may re-roll any failed rolls to wound whilst shooting. i hope this information as helped you :D :D :D
When asked to do a toughness test you roll one die and compare it to the models toughness. You pass if you are equal to or less then your stat. a roll of a 6 always fails this test.
You can re-roll to hit when you shoot and ignore cover saves.
