My son's Vulcan Nerf shooter did not work when we got batteries in it. So, I took the screws out of the bottom of the battery casing there the metal plates are. I only took off the first housing by the metal plate. My personal theory being that the springs on the inside of the battery casing slot were not connecting to the metal plates of the casing. I put it back inside (with the plastic under-piece removed). Once it was loaded with Nerf bullets and the gun was put into operating condition we switched it on, cocked it, and pulled the trigger. It worked!!!!! The springs were misaligned on the inside of the battery housing slot and the removal of the plastic tab seemed to fix it. Have a great day!

Thank you so much for your help.....my son was so disappointed that his gun didn't fire automatically. I found your answer here and it became apparent that he had loaded the battery case upside down. It works great and he is smiling huge!!! Thanks from Tennessee.

I have done this answer and my Nerf Vulcan is still not working
