Protection From: in Magic the Gathering means a selection of things.
The Protected permanent cannot be damaged by a source it is protected from, nor can it be enchanted/equipped, nor can it be blocked, nor can it be targeted.
Players refer to this as DEBT protection - Damage, Enchant/Equip, Block, Target.
So a creature with Protection from Green cannot take any damage from a Green source, it can't be enchanted or Equipped with a green Aura or Equip (equips are generally colourless but it's not impossible for them to have one), it cannot be blocked by Green creatures, and it can't be targeted by a Green spell or ability.
If however a Green effect does not do any of the above, then Protection will not stop it. If a green spell said 'tap all creatures controlled by target opponent', none of this is covered by 'DEBT' so the protected creature will still be tapped. Note also that non-targeted damage (ie, Hurricane) is still protected against because it deals damage.
Lastly, if a creature/spell is multicolour, everything it does, like damage or targeting, counts as being each of those colours. So if the creature is Green/Red, it is still a Green creature so can't block a protection from: Green creature, nor deal damage to it if itself was blocked by one.
Some strategies in Magic: The Gathering for dealing with creatures with protection from green include using colorless or non-green removal spells, using abilities that don't target the creature, or using cards that can change the creature's color or remove its protection ability.
The most effective green counterspell in Magic: The Gathering is Veil of Summer. It can protect your spells and creatures from being countered, as well as providing card draw and protection from certain types of removal spells.
The black and green Magic: The Gathering card is called "Abrupt Decay."
The blue-green Magic: The Gathering card is called "Simic Growth Chamber."
The green and white Magic: The Gathering card I am referring to is called "Selesnya Charm."
The red-green Magic: The Gathering card you are referring to is called "Bloodbraid Elf."
The colors in Magic: The Gathering (MTG) are white, blue, black, red, and green.
The five color names in Magic: The Gathering are white, blue, black, red, and green.
Some green cards in Magic: The Gathering that give creatures haste include Rhythm of the Wild, Fires of Yavimaya, and Anger.
Protection in Magic: The Gathering affects blocking mechanics by making a creature with protection unable to be blocked by creatures of the specified color or type. This means that when a creature with protection attacks, it can only be blocked by creatures that do not match the specified color or type.
In Magic: The Gathering (MTG), the color pairs are named as follows: White-Blue, Blue-Black, Black-Red, Red-Green, and Green-White.
When a creature with trample attacks a creature with protection in Magic: The Gathering, the attacking creature can assign excess damage to the defending player or planeswalker, bypassing the protected creature.
