Well then you could say Lexington and Concord the first battle. Or the Boston tea party which was the first major act of aggression against British tyranny. Or you could go an a much broader scope and stick with over taxation with out representation. Classic stuff you learn in school. Or a less traditional root but way more fun to right about, that the Mason's planed it all. You know the secret organization that our founders belonged to. : P
