Originally this question was asked as "Why does shtupik mean a little pig?". I didn't know what was "shtupik" because I heard this word from a friend on one occasion.

As it turned out, the question was about the word "stumpig" which was used in the movie "The Witness" (1985). I guess that comes from Dutch "stom"- stupid, or German "stumm" - numb, and that is why this kind of name is used for a little piglet.

As soon as the word was recognized - no mystery remained, the "pig" ending made everything clear.

If everyone can explain something about the use of the word "shtumpig" I'D very glad.
