Well, we get a few gator attacks in Florida, but less often in the swamps and everglades of Louisiana and South Carolina. Most of the time dogs are eaten, and people just sometimes. The attacks are usually near lakes and ponds, but also near homes and in swimming pools where some gators dare to hunt.
Plus, I don't think the gators grow as large as they used to in the US. 1st - more people have settled into areas where gators used to rule. 2nd - folks that buy boas and pythons often release their 'pets' into the wild when they grow too big. But as a result, conservationists have found that Burmese pythons quickly devour the crocs and other fresh water wild life. The pythons can breed & hatch 100 or more little 'killas' each time. Florida has conservationists that are ordered to catch and kill ALL pythons.
Whether or not a crocodile is dangerous depends on the particular crocodile. The most dangerous crocodiles are those of Northern Australia and the Nile River. They have killed many people. Other crocodiles and American Alligators are not quite as dangerous without the overt aggressiveness but still have killed a number of people.

Yes there are; American crocodiles (Crocodylus acutus) are known to live in Florida in small numbers. However, they are rare, and Americans are more familiar with the much more common, yet smaller and less dangerous American alligator (Alligator mississipiensis).
Yes, American crocodiles are listed as a species of least concern on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List. They are found in parts of the United States and other countries, and conservation efforts are in place to help protect their populations.
Oh, dude, no way! Saltwater crocodiles are like the ultimate beach bums, chilling in the tropical waters of Australia, Southeast Asia, and the eastern coast of India. They're not into the whole American scene, so you won't find them sunbathing in the US. Like, they're too cool for that, you know?
