Chile is totally in the Southern Hemisphere, so their seasons are 6 months out of phase with the US and Europe ... Their Winter occurs during the Northern Summer.

It is also a very long skinny country, running down the West Coast of South America from about 18 to about 55 South Latitude, so the change in length of day with the season changes varies greatly with your point of observation. That distance is approximately the same as the distance from Northern Mexico to Juneau, Alaska.

BUT YES, the length of day in Chile is Shorter during THEIR winter.
