The Empire State Building became the world's tallest skyscraper in 1931. At 102 stories and 1,454 feet tall, it bested the Chrysler Building by only four hundred feet. It is one of the largest occupied stuctures (by total volume) in the United States. After the destruction of the World Trade Center towers in 2001, the Empire State Building was again the tallest building in Manhattan, and remains one of the 15 tallest occupiedstructures in the world. No, but the Empire State Building was the tallest building from year 1931 to 1972, until the North Tower of the World Trade Centre in New York City was completed. The Empire State Building is, however, the tallest building in New York after the World Trade Centre collapsed on 11th September 2001. The tallest completed building in the world is currently Taipei 101 in Taipei, Taiwan. It measures 509 metres (1,671 ft.) tall. However, the tallest uncompleted building is Burj Dubai in Dubai, which measures 688 metres (2,259 ft.) tall and is still growing. Its final height remains a closely-guarded secret and is rumoured to be more than 818 metres (2,685 ft.) tall when completed.Hello I am impoving this answer. The planes that shot him down off the Empire State Building but if you want to go deeper than that you could say that "beauty killed the beast" because if he didn't follow Anne off Skull Island, he wouldn't have been captured and taken to New York, and again when he climbed the Empire State Building; he wanted to see the sunset.
