The United States president must be born in the United States or one of its territories, or his or her parents must have been US citizens when he or she was born (i.e. traveling outside the country). Also, he or she must have lived in the United States for 14 years.

If a person lived in England or Canada, but was born a US citizen and lived here for 14 years, he or she may become president. A person born in England or Canada cannot become president.
