I think the word you might want is gypsy. Although "gypsy" originally referred to a group of people who originated in Europe around the 14th century (1300s), many people who call themselves gypsies roam from city to city across the USA looking for seasonal work in construction mostly. Gypsies used to tell fortunes in travelling circuses across the USA during the late 1800s and early 1900s. However, some people would argue that these persons were not true gypsies.
