Gitanes, Tziganes, Rom, Roma... are some correct handles. While they try to tone it down, there ARE many Italian gypsies- often on the Carnival circuit.A relative of mine called them ( Carnival Italians)
Roma which means 'man', it is not to be confused with the words like Rome or Roumania, as both these words are from Latin. The word 'Roma' is what the Gypsies call themselves & the word is Indian in origin.
Only some Gypsies (and some stupid clerks from the European Union) accept the term Rrom: the correct word in the Romanian language is ţigan.

Yes, they do. Although they usually follow the religions of their hosts countries, in & amongst themselves they have their own unique beliefs. Romanies call God 'O Del.'
Doctors can estimate if you are really sick, or you have cancer or something like that, but it is impossible to tell. Even people who call themselves gypsies, or fortune tellers, do not know. It is impossible.
