Loosley called the Mango Season in recent times but more commonly called The Troppo Season, The Build Up or Stinger season.
Usually starts around September/October (sometimes later if it is a delayed start) in Darwin and a bit later the more south you go in the Top End. It's when some advanced forms of mangoes are first sold, and other mango trees are flowering in conjunction with humidity and temperature rise.
Troppo is also an appropriate terminology as some people are said to be driven a bit crazy with the high humidy and temperature. It is the beginning, or Build Up of the Wet Season (not the green season as called in other parts of Australia) where infrequent but very gusty and short lived thunderstorms add even more humidity to the already hot humid air.
Box Jellyfish begin to rapidly increase in population making swimming in the sea very risky and hence the terminology Stinger Season.

I asked my son this question and he replied "between apricot season and strawberry season". But I think it is actually summer that mangoes are in season.Enjoy!!
It depends where in the world, harvesting in Australia, and again depending on location, between September and March Darwin, September to October Katherine, October and November Marbeea, September to January Bundaberg, February and March
Mango trees typically lose their leaves during the dry season, which is usually in the winter months.
Christmas in Darwin occurs in the middle of the wet season. This is summer, and in the tropical north it is a particularly sticky, humid time of the year, occurring in the monsoonal season.
