Answer 1

Judaism and Christianity have been the largest religions in Europe for the vast majority of Europe's existence. Judaism has recently been surpassed by Islam as the second largest religion in Europe, but Christianity still remains the strongest by far. Culturally, Europeans have always been extremely religious. This has lead to prosecution of non-Christians, mostly Jews, Muslims, and Atheists.

Answer 2

Judaism and Christianity have had an incredible effect on European history. Even though there have been a relatively small number of Jews, most of Europe was Christian, a religion based in part on Jewish tradition and belief. As a result, the Jewish/Christian Holy Book, The Bible became a central part of European history and identity along with the foundation of many laws.

Judaism and Christianity also represented a fundamental shift from the Hellenistic Worldview in which a person was valued by what he could do (i.e. fight as a warrior, earn lots of money, etc.) to who he could be (i.e. loving, caring, empathetic, etc.). The idea that a person should attempt to love his neighbor instead of out-compete him is of Jewish origin. This, of course, has been subsumed by Christianity.

How did Judaism affect Christianity?

Answer 1If anything Christianity affected Judaism, because the Jewish religion was around along time before the Christian religion, therefore Christianity affected Judaism negatively because more people converted to Christianity!Answer 2While Answer 1 may be correct in terms of the general direction of conversions, both forced and by choice, in terms of philosophy, literature, and general ideology, Christianity is fundamentally an outgrowth of Judaism. Before Christology developed as a Christian Discipline, the Jewish ideas of the Messiah, Redemption, and the End of Days helped to develop similar doctrines in Christianity. Christianity also carried forward the Jewish concept on Monotheism. Judaism also provided a backdrop for early Christians of the "unredeemed" and "pitiable" allowing them to claim a natural ascendancy and "betterness". This sense of superiority allowed Christian conquerors to knowingly subjugate America without regard for the indigenous cultures that they would displace and/or eradicate. Finally, the Bible used in Christianity is over 75% the same as that used in Judaism.

How did religion affect the punic wars?

Not at all - it was not a war about religion. Peoples recignised the equivalence of their gods, and so did not fight over them. It was not until the advent of the exclusivist religions - Judaism-Christianity-Islam that religious wars became popular.
