The Peoples Republic of China has the second largest economy in the world. This remarkable compared to the Chinese economy of say, 30 years ago. China's economy of today is vastly different than in the years when it was considered a purely Marxist economy and private holdings were at a minimum. China now has a mixed economy and a stock market. When China was under the rule of hard line communists, the economy was in bad shape compared to may others in the world.
The economy would eventually get stronger, there would be plenty of jobs, and the economy would be thriving and growing. Not under the current president, I am afraid.

After Mao Zedong died in 1976 and the Four were arrested, Den Xiaoping took over. Deng Xiaoping improved China's economy by introducing a mix of capitalism and communism. For example, under Mao's reign, people worked on collective farms which earned little money. After Mao's death, under Deng's reign, farmers can give the crop to the government for payment and the rest of the crop can be sold by the farmer(s).
