Oh, dude, replacing the turn signal lever on a 1979 Chevrolet Malibu is like a walk in the park... if that park is full of confusing wires and tiny screws. You basically gotta remove the steering column cover, locate the lever assembly, disconnect it, swap it out with a new one, and then put everything back together. It's like a puzzle, but with more grease and frustration.
The center console is held in place by 4 screws...2 screws inside the arm rest storage area and 2 screws on the change tray below the hand break lever. Be sure to pull up the hand break lever to lift the center console off...Good Luck
Pull the hood release lever that is to the right below the sterring wheel. This will pop your hood a little bit and then on the body of the car, right in the center on the black metal, you will feel a lever, move it towards the direction of the driver. I found this in my owners manual.
check cable under seat to see if it is ok! the one going to seat lever. if nessesary replace cable.
There is no lever; just press the gas tank door and it will release! (-:
