(The social system in medieval Europe whereby a vassal held land from a superior in exchange for allegiance and service, and ruled their own small regions.)

"In feudalism, people remained in the social status to which they were born."

"Lords had significant control during feudalism, so they could be greedy and cruel, or indifferent, or fair."

In a broad sense, feudalism is a political and economic system used in Europe before modern times where a lord owned the land and the tenants worked the land to produce food for the lord and to keep some for themselves, and served in his military when there was need. In return, the lord was supposed to protect them.
