El Salvador is one of the most industrialized nations in Latin America; 23% of GDP comes from manufacturing. Much of this manufacturing output is exported, and trade counts for a large portion of the Salvadoran economy. Remittances (money sent home by Salvadorans living abroad) are also important. Agriculture, including coffee beans, is another important source of economic activity. Tourism and harvesting fish and other ocean products rounds out the economy.
