In alot of ways, the systems share:
A bicameral legislature, composed largely the same way
The Separation of powers
The Division of powers
The systems differ fundamentally in the Executive side of things, in the US the executive (Ie. the President and Cabinet) is seperate from the Legislature, whereas in Australia the Executive is drawn from the legislature.
Australia has never had an Olympic champion like the US has.
Australia was (and to some point might still be) the only nation on earth that was like the US "used to be like." Visiting Australia in 1970 would be like entering a time machine and visiting America (the US) in 1930. Australia was a wonderful early America back in the Vietnam War days. Partly for this reason, many movie makers from the US go to Australia to make films. Canada will do, but Australia is not as frozen as Canada, and has climate (for film making scenes) similar to America (US).
No, the Australian version does not only give information about Australia. It is just a version, much like the US version does not only offer information about the US.
Australia is not in the US
Oh, dude, that's an easy one. The US state closest to Australia is Hawaii. I mean, like, they're both in the Pacific Ocean, so it's not like you can just swim from Hawaii to Australia, but in terms of, like, actual distance, Hawaii is the closest. So, yeah, there you go.
Like the US, the last time was the Vietnam War.
There sure is. Visit an electronics shop like Dick Smith Electronics or Auslec and grab yourself a stepdown transformer. This will allow you to use your US equipment here in Australia. They retail for around AU$150 depending on the wattage that's needed. Have fun in Australia, mate.
US means United states, since it is not one singular place it is the United states. Australia is just Australia because it is that and noting else. Its like you say the United Nations, and just plain Scotland.
on a regular atlas, Australia is southeast from the US
Very strong, Australia and the US have fought together in all the main wars since 1900, we have a Free Trade Agreement, joint defense initiatives and the like.
When it is summer in the US it is Winter in Australia.
Australia had a good relationship with Britain and the U.S. during the 1950's. Both countries provided Australia with a number of cultural influences like music and film.
