For a while, there were a pretty good amount of Jews in Germany. But after the Holocaust, which was meant to wipe them out, many, if not most, of them were killed. Since then, not many have been very eager to return to their home country.

Since the end of the Cold War there has been a significant influx of Jews from the countries of the former Soviet Union. One often ecounters a figure of about 108,000 religious Jews and an overall total of about 210,000 ethnic and relgious Jews combined.
