This answer shall be an attempt to consolidate key economic facts concerning the economic differences between the North and the South just prior to the US Civil War. It will also consolidate the economic differences between both sides of the conflict during the actual four year conflict.and later According to the 1860 census the Southern states had 110,000 industrial workers. In contrast to this, the North had 1,300,000 industrial workers. This was such a huge disparity that these figures require that they be displayed in advance of the other factors that follow up the production of the workers on each side. How slaves in the South made economic contributions will also be discussed.
