So from, say, London (which is in south England) to Edinburgh (which is east central Scotland), it takes about 7.5 hours to drive. From Carlisle (a town at the English border) to Dumfries (a town at the Scottish border), it takes 45 minutes to drive. Why don't you look at a map (there's plenty online) of the UK. Then you can see that three countries (Scotland, England and Wales) make up the island commonly known as Great Britain.
