Besides feed, costs associated with goats include vaccinations, drenching for worms, equipment required for trimming feet, dehorning, yards, Fencing, identification and vitamins and minerals. A goat needs to be at least 12 weeks old to be weaned, but ideally should be between 3-4 months old. This allows the goat to develop a strong immune system and digestive system before being separated from its mother's milk.
This is a question that could be answered differently by every goat farm. On an average, bucks are weaned at 3-4 months, does are weaned 4-5 months. However, left to their mother's discretion, a mother goat allows the baby to wean naturally and longer than humans will.
