Solar, wind, hydro-power, biomass and geothermal. Mexico is blessed with these renewable sources, althoug it is only beginning to realize its full potential. One example is wind power, for which Mexico has installed several wind farms worth 1,370 MW of energy (2012), while it is believed it can grow up to 71000 MW (or 71 GW) of energy from this power source alone. If Mexico were to fully develop its renewables potential, it would achieve a capacity of 308 GW, or five times its current installed capacity (53 GW for 2010) which is mostly based on thermoelectric power plants fueled by oil, natural gas and diesel.
