It will force cheaper labor because of the fierce competition and less jobs available. It is ecconomically murky water/shakey ground. Less good paying jobs, means less money to spend, ecconomies struggle.

In a pro-globalization world, the United States would decrease its manufacturing base, instead focusing on optimization of industry that cannot be off-shored (i.e. oil and gas) while it expands higher-value industries, such as consumer electronics and airspace. This in turn would mean that those countries and regions would increase their manufacturing capacity, but would have to export their products to the United States to continue their economic growth.

In an anti-globalization scheme, the United States would stop importing those products from abroad, reducing trade exchange while increasing local manufacturing. This would prompt many regions to stop their dependency towards the United States, creating other hubs for innovation and increasing inter-regional trade, while effectively isolating the United States from their chains of value.

Both scenarios are equally possible, and in many instances are happening at the same time.
