It originates in the Himalayas at Gangotri Glacier and travels through states like Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal before emptying into the Bay of Bengal. On a map, you can trace the river's path from the northern region near the Himalayas down towards the eastern coast of India.
