Yes Brazil is quite powerful! It keeps gaining more and more power too and is expected to surpass France and the United Kingdom and take the spot of 5th largest economy soon, and it shows no signs of stopping there. Brazil is expected to be one of the worlds most powerful country and it is quite possible it will be right alongside or even in front of China, who is also growing more and more powerful. The two might eventually pass the United States as well, the current most powerful country.
Brazil is home to the majority of South America's most powerful people.
There are many ways to calculate this, but the major two are definitely Brazil and Argentina: Brazil, Argentina, and Venezuela are the more economically powerful ones. Brazil, Colombia, and Argentina are the more heavily populated ones. Brazil, Argentina, and Peru are the more larger ones. Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay are the more developed nations.
USA, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico

Brazil was dependent on slavery primarily due to the demand for labor in its agricultural and mining industries. Slavery was seen as a cheap and efficient way to meet this demand, especially after the decline of the indigenous population. Additionally, the economic interests of powerful landowners and colonial administrators perpetuated and reinforced the institution of slavery in Brazil.
The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer, while the middle class is staying the same, but internationally, Brazil is the 7th most economical powerful country in the world, but it will be fourth in a couple of years, so I guess you could say Brazil is getting richer everyday.
