As the west has lower quality of land, it is harder to farm and to make a living on, so people tend to move away in search of better lifestyles, many going to Dublin. As it is on the east coast, it is nearer to Britain and other parts of Europe, so it is well placed for trading. It has the main sea port and airport in Ireland.
