Not at all. It is a language rich in culture and history (probably the oldest living language in Europe), and still surviving, even thriving, today. Something of a miracle, considering the brash domineering of its next-door neighbour, English.

Like every language, it has a fundamental point to it: communication. Through its use, both historically and today, as a means of communication, it is by definition not pointless.
