No, but I think I might know the source of such a legend. Early in the war, during the Norwiegian campaign, the British were haveing trouble with water condensing and freezing on the gun barrels. They came up with the solution of issuing the soldiers tubes of thin rubber to put over their gun barrels to keep the water off. these were produced by a condom manufacturer and were, essentially, eighteen inch long rubbers. When the first batch was shown to Winston Churchill he joked that he wanted each one to be stamped "British Medium". He said that would intimidate the Germans and show them who the master race was.
