Is your parakeet a boy or girl if the beak is yellow?

If a parakeet is young, it will have a bright pink or bright blue nose. If it is an old parakeet, it will have dark blue or brown. If a young parakeet has a bright blue nose, it is a girl. If it has a dark blue nose, it is old and it is a male.

Well, when they get old enough, their ceres (the fleshy band on their beaks) turn blue, purpleish or even whitish if it's a boy and obviously pink or brown if it's a girl. If it's very young, DNA testing is the eisiest way to find out, but their are different methods:

1) The male parakeet may bob its head more often (a mating dance)

2) I hear that very young males might even have pinkish ceres

3) Females chew more (to build nests in the wild)

4)If you have a pure white or light yellow parakeet, the cere often never has the colors expected. For example, the males may stay with a white cere for their whole lives.

5)Female parakeets MIGHT be louder than males

6) If your parakeet sings all the time and chirps, it's probably a male

Beak doesn't matter, when they get old enough, the nostrils of the males will be dark. The females stay light.

The Yellow Parakeet can be either male or female. There is no specific gender for each species of animal!
