Dalian
they formed the delian league because they had to join toegether to defeat the Persians
There were several - Delian League, Peloponnesian League, Achaean League, Ionian League, Aetolian League, Beotian League etc, etc.
It is true that about 180 Greek city-states formed the Delian League to protect themselves from Persian rule. Not sure why 'why' would be 'true of false'.
The Peloponnesian League was formed by the city-state of Sparta largely from the cities in the Peloponnesian pensula (southern Greece) excluding Argos.
The members of the Delian League, which was formed under the leadership of Athens ranged from 150 to 173 Greek city-states.
The Delian League, often confused with the Dorian League, was formed in 478 BCE by Athens and several other Greek city-states following the Persian Wars. Its primary goal was to continue the fight against Persia and protect Greek interests. The League became a tool for Athenian dominance, with member states contributing ships or money to the common cause. The term "Dorian League" is less commonly recognized in historical texts, as the Delian League is more prominent.
The Macedonian ruler who conquered the Greek city-states and formed the Corinthian League was Philip II of Macedon. He achieved this through a series of military victories, culminating in the Battle of Chaeronea in 338 BC. The Corinthian League was established to unify the Greek states under Macedonian hegemony, allowing them to cooperate in military campaigns, particularly against Persia. Philip's efforts laid the groundwork for his son, Alexander the Great, to further expand the Macedonian Empire.
It was formed under the leadership of Athens to oppose Persian attempts to incorporate about 200 Greek city-states within its empire. The league funds were located in a temple on the island of Delos, which gave the anti-Persian league its name.
The league of Greek city-states, often referred to as the Delian League, was an alliance formed in 478 BCE after the Persian Wars. It was led by Athens and aimed to provide mutual defense against Persian aggression and to liberate Greek cities under Persian control. Member states contributed ships or money to a common treasury on the island of Delos. Over time, the league evolved into an Athenian empire, leading to tensions and conflicts with other city-states, particularly Sparta.
I believe it was the Hanseatic League
The Spartan-led Peloponnesian League was formed to oppose the Athenian empire interfering in dominating and pillaging other Greek city-states. Democracy had nothing to do with the 27-year war which ensued.
The Peloponnesian League was created by Sparta and its allies to dominate trade and government in the Greek city-states.
