The British Empire contained the countries of Great Britain along with numerous overseas possessions, colonies, and protectorates. These included the following, later members of the Commonwealth of Nations (which began in 1931):

America (13 colonies), Canada, Belize, Bahamas, (other Caribbean Islands like Jamaica, Cayman Islands,etc.) Honduras, Mosquito coast, Guiana, Falkland Islands, part of Antarctica, more Atlantic Ocean Islands, most of southern Africa and most of eastern Africa, plus several West African countries like Nigeria, Gold Coast, Gambia, etc.) Malta, Gibraltar, Minorca, Ireland, Cyprus, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, Oman, Yemen, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, India, Pakistan, Burma, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, plus several more Pacific, Indian, and Mediterranean Islands.
Argentina, Chile and Peru were never in the British Empire
The British Empire no longer exists.
They were all part of the British Empire
All non British, countries, colonies, territories or protectorates were not part of the British Empire.

It changed its name to the British Commonwealth in 1931 and started to disintegrate from 1947 onwards as the various countries demanded independence.

At one time some of the countries in Africa were part of the British empire. Now they are independent, but some are members of the Commonwealth of Nations, an organisation that has some of the old British empire countries as members.
