No. He said his grandfather served. His father was African and his step father was Indonesian.
The president has never said in any book that he is a Muslim, nor has he said it in any interview. Contrary to internet myths, Mr. Obama is not a Muslim; he is a Christian. But in his book "Dreams from my Father," he talked about his father's life-- his father was born a Muslim but left that religion and became an atheist. By the time President Obama was born, his father had no religion at all.
No, he said his grandfather served.
His name was also Barack Obama. Someone said it was Framk Marshall Davis. What was his mother's name? Was he born in Kenya Africa?
By most accounts, the president's father only lived with his wife and son during the first year or so of young Barack's life. President Obama has written about his vague memories of his dad, which were basically shaped by his father's brief visit (one month) when young Barack was ten years old. Other than that, he never saw his biological father.
I have a caroat
Michelle Obama has said she was strongly influenced by the ethics and values of her parents. She has said she admired her father because he worked hard and supported his family even though he had multiple sclerosis; and she admired her mother for encouraging her to be follow her dream of having a career. Her parents both taught her to be determined, and to achieve even if she encountered prejudice.
President Obama has said it always bothered him that his biological father played no role in his life and had no interest in him. He wanted to have kids so he could be a good father and do what he felt his father had not done. Michelle Obama grew up in a loving home and seems to have always been in favor of having a family once she met the right person. By most accounts, she and Barack have a very close relationship and enjoy being parents.
This is one of those questions where the first half doesn't really equal the second half. Barack's grandmother was a part of his growing up years. His father returned to Kenya, and Barack met him as an adult. Being a goat. They're good at being annoying, stinky, hairy, and being a goat. Wait, I already said that one.
By all accounts, Barack Obama is an excellent father. Even his political enemies like Sean Hannity have praised him as a positive role model for fatherhood. Mr. Obama has said that he wanted to have kids, and he wanted to be a more involved dad than his biological father was. So, yes President Obama does care very much for his kids; he calls them when he is away, and he spends time with them (and with Michelle) when he is home.
