Total War- Apex
John McCain, Republican candidate in 2008 was a POW .
On theory it is a Republic. But South Vietnam actually a Republican Dictatorship type of government like Cromwell Republic. So it is not very democracy at all. At least it gives human rights.
Now this is what happens when people attempt to "politically correct" history; by calling North Vietnam, as one exaggerated example: the "Peoples Republic Democratic Liberation Society of the Vietnamese People." If that's exaggerated, then rest assured that that's exactly what it sounds like to the average Western person. President Nixon, Henry Kissinger, the US Army, US Marine Corps, etc., and all Americans called North Vietnam...North Vietnam (except in official written correspondence...etc. etc.)...South Vietnam was the "RVN" (Republic of South Vietnam) but everyone called it South Vietnam. The Republicans & Democrats are in the US of A. NORTH VIETNAM was a COMMUNIST country. Communism is neither Democrat nor Republican. The Viet War was about fighting communism. Northern communist aggression invading the Republic of South Vietnam. RVN was not a communist country.
Assuming John McCain or Barry Goldwater.
Republican hawks during the Vietnam War were primarily called for an escalation of U.S. military involvement to ensure a decisive victory against communism. They advocated for increased troop deployments, airstrikes, and a more aggressive strategy to combat the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese forces. These hawks often framed their position as a necessary stance against the spread of communism in Southeast Asia, emphasizing the importance of U.S. credibility and commitment to its allies.
Richard Nixon was a member of the Republican Party.
