Along with John C. Calhounof the South, Henry Clay of the West were known as the 'Great Triumvirate' were proponents of the 2-party system & were against the Slavery system, & were against the"A Senate committee selected the 'immortal trio' & two others, La Follette, & Robert Taft as the 5 greatest Senators of the US."
