Spain's influence in Mexican Culture include many aspects of the Mexican traditions, such as the language (Spanish) and religion (Roman Catholicism).

The second most influential would be France, as many ideals from the French Revolution were "imported" into Mexico, such as the Republic as form of government. On the other hand, in the 19th century, France tried to conquer Mexico as a first step to counter the growing influence of the United States in the Americas. Such interventions were the First Franco-Mexican War ("The Pastry War") (1838) and the Second Franco-Mexican War (1862-1867) which included the all-too-famous Cinco de Mayo or Battle of Puebla (May 5th, 1862).
