The Greater Antilles and the Lesser Antilles
All island nations in Europe include Iceland, Ireland, United Kingdom, Malta, and Cyprus.
There is no record of Europeans having explored as far as the Great Lakes by the year 1600. The First Nations would have had their own names for the Great Lakes. One of their names for Lake Superior was Gichigami.
The Lesser Antilles are comprised of the islands of the eastern rim of the Carribean Sea. The Smaller Islands form the lesser Antiles while the larger islands form the Greater Antilles. The nations include:Barbados, Aruba, Antigua, St. Vincent, St. Lucia, Grenada, The UK/US Virgin Islands, Martenique, Guadeloupe, Dominica, St. Martin, Grenadines, and there are often people who include the island of Puerto Rico in the Lesser Antilles rather then the Greater Antilles
Cuda, Espanola, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica
Examples of three major island arcs are the Aleutians, the Kuriles, Japan, and the Philippines. They clustered around the northern and western borders of the Pacific Plate like a necklace.
Baffin Island, Labrador, Newfoundland. The people were American Indians (First Nations).
Many island nations have historical names that reflect their indigenous cultures or colonial pasts. For example, the Solomon Islands were once referred to as the "Isles of the Solomon," while Vanuatu was known as the "New Hebrides" during French and British colonial rule. Similarly, the Philippines was called "Las Islas Filipinas" after King Philip II of Spain, and Japan was historically referred to as "Nihon" or "Yamato." These names often carry significant cultural and historical context for the nations involved.
Caribbean Island has 28 island nations and almost 7,000 individuals. The top ten famous island names of the Caribbean are as follows: Dominican Republic, Cayman Islands, Aruba, St. Martin, Bahamas, Barbados, British Virgin Island, St. Lucia, St. Bart's and Jamaica.
