The Hawaiians live in Hawaii. I am not aware of any mainland native tribes en masse living in the islands presently. Further, I have not seen Hawaiians divided up amongst themselves; unless you go back to the late 18c when the people on different islands were considered as different tribes. Kamehameha I saw the Europeans coming and through minor skirmishes succeeded in uniting all Hawaiians. Unassimilated Hawaiians live simply on the island of Niihau west of Honolulu, speak only the Hawaiian language, but have faced difficult financial problems recently.

Native Americans were not the ones who first came to Hawaii. It is believed that the Hawaiian Islands were settled by the Polynesian people. Polynesian seafarers were skilled ocean navigators and astronomers. At a time when Western boats rarely went out of sight of land, Polynesians often traveled long distances.
