Cons
-Had a oil spill in 1989 and killed a lot of land and sea life such as whales, fish, birds, and other kinds of animals.
-Drilling for oil is the biggest problem in Alaska because it kills many wildlife habitats and refuges.
-Many animals die because all their food supply is gone and because they had no other place to go to.
-When transporting oil it pollution inland as well as along the coast. This is mainly due to leakages and consistent drilling for oil, other than the established sites.
-Drilling oil also destroys the natural ecosystem, wildlife, terrain, and uses too many available resources.
-Pollutes the air in Alaska and makes it very hard to live and work throughout the state.
More oil there than in all of the middle east.
It is a matter of pros and cons: ecological, social and political views must be sorted out.
pros they have alot of oil in them cons there expensive to extract , there hard to extract
Oil Drilling
At present, drilling for oil is prohibited until 2048. See Wikipedia link. Second, there has been some drilling in the 1970's offshore in the Ross Sea, but only traces of gas were found. It will be hard to justify spending money to explore for oil, as the cost of drilling and producing is very high. So the ban on exploration may continue after 2048. See second link.
prudhoe bay
there arnt you meeny To reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

Pros of oil shale energy include abundant domestic supply, potential for energy independence, and the ability to extract oil from unconventional sources. However, the cons include high production costs, environmental damage from extraction methods, and the release of greenhouse gases during processing.
Alaska does have a budget deficit. The deficit of Alaska is minor, though, compared to other states. Alaska has its oil revenue to fall back on, with drilling and finding oil a major industry in the state.
bann oil drilling and fishing without a licence.
Pros- provide places to refine oil and other crude substances; new refineries have 80% less emissions Cons- environmental damage; costs a lot of money; only a "quick fix" (we are eventually going to run out of oil)
