Mount Etna and Mount Vesuvius are two examples. Active volcanoes are almost fully exclusive to the Mediterranean countries, belonging mostly to Greece and Italy.
In Mexico the two most active are the Popocatepetl and Colima volcanoes.
Etna (in Sicily) and Stromboli (a small island in the Tyrrhenian Sea) are the only two Italian volcanoes that have persistent activities. They can produce eruptions within medium-long term. All in all, ten active volcanoes are present in the Italian territory, "active" in that they gave manifestations in the last 10,000 years.
