It depends on where in Texas you are planning to travel. Texas is a very large state rich in history and many places to visit. You might want to search the web for different cities or areas of Texas that you might be interested in visiting.

Well, there's the State Capitol building in Austin, there's the Rio Grande (river on the border of TX and Mexico), Great Basin, Lost Pines (in Eastern Texas), the Davis Mountains, Cadillac Ranch (near Amarillo), the Alamo in San Antonio, lots of other historical places in cities like El Paso, Houston, Dallas (there's a state fair there around Thanksgiving every year!), Galveston, San Antonio, and others. For amusement parks, there's Six Flags (Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, and another whose name escapes me in Dallas), and Schlitterbahn (one in New Braunfels south of Austin, one on South Padre Island, and one in Galveston, plus a new one in Kansas City, Kansas!). Those are the most notable amusement parks. There IS another, MUCH smaller version of Schlitterbahn called Volente Beach in Austin, but I don't recommend it. At all. Ever. for some others, i hope more people can add to this, but if not, you'll have to look up things in the cities i mentioned above.

You forgot the Space Center in Houston and Carlsbad Caverns in the West near the Davis Mountains (which may also be referred to as the Guadalupe Mountains as well), and by the way, Austin is known at least by the locals as the "Live Music Capitol of the World" because of the large number of music festivals that occur there. Austin City Limits (simply known as ACL by locals) in the late summer/early fall and South by Southwest (abbreviated SxSW or SXSW) in the late spring are the most notable of them. Also, the kinds of food availiable here is varied, but some of the best barbeque and Tex-Mex can be found here. after all, "the Mexican food sucks north of here anyway!" (from a song i believe called "Come Back to Texas"). And while you're there, you might as well pick up a "learn to speak Texan" language CD just for kicks.And if you want a thrill, go to bob's bbq & grill.
