Guernsey, a dependency (possession) of the British Crown, is not "in" any country -- other than itself.

Defence of the Bailiwick of Guernsey (to give the territory its full title) is the responsibility of the United Kingdom. However, Guernsey is not itself a part of the United Kingdom. It lies within the Common Travel Area of the British Isles but, unlike the United Kingdom and Ireland, Guernsey is not a member of the European Union (EU). Nevertheless it has a special relationship with the EU, being treated as part of the Union for the purposes of the free market in goods.
