Nepal and Tibet. It straddles the border between the two countries. Its main summit measures 8,516 m/27,940 ft. So it's the fourth highest mountain in the world, after Mount Everest, at 8,848 m/29,029 ft, and to which it's connected; K2, at 8,641 m/28,251 ft; and Kangchenjunga, at 8,586 m/28,169 ft. Lhotse first was climbed, on May 18, 1956; in 1996; and on May 23, 2001. On the first date, the Swiss team of Ernst Reiss [b. February 24, 1920] and Fritz Luchsinger [March 8, 1921-April 28, 1983] climbed the part of Lhotse ka Lhotse Shar. On the second date, Chantal Mauduit [March 24, 1964-May 13, 1998] became the first woman to summit, solo and without oxygen. On the third date, the Russian team of Eugeny Vinogradsky, Sergei Timofeev, Petr Kuznetsov, and Alexei Bolotov climbed the part of Lhotse ka Lhotse Middle, which had been the highest unclimbed mountain in the world until that date. And Lhotse was climbed, during the winter for the first time, on December 31, 1988, by Krzysztof Wielicki [b. January 5, 1950] of Poland.
