lately some agency new such as BBC Persian wanted to distribute a distorted text to Ayatollah Khomeini based on a secret message between him and carter. but according to confident sources the history is not such a way that BBC agency news narrated it. in other word I think that not only, as BBC claimed, Imam Khomeini in response to Carter , alert him on the right of Iranian people in respect to their destiny but also Imam Khomeini try to show Carter, if he threat Iran again this action could followed by serous response by Iranian people.
Jimmy Carter had no particular "accomplishments" in foreign policy. One of his biggest failures was to relinquish sovereignty over the Panama Canal to Panama, but letting the religious fanatic Ayatollah Khomeini depose the Shah of Iran probably comes close to this.

Note: Acording to WIKIPEDIA. In America, the crisis is thought by some political analysts to be the primary reason for U.S. President Jimmy Carter's defeat in the November 1980 presidential election,[7] and described by some as the "pivotal episode" in the history of U.S.-Iranian relations.[8] In Iran, the crisis strengthened the prestige of the Ayatollah Khomeini and the political power of forces who supported theocracy and the hostage taking.[9] The crisis also marked the beginning of American legal action, or sanctions, that weakened economic ties between Iran and America. Sanctions blocked all property within U.S. jurisdiction owned by the Central Bank and Government of Iran.Jimmy Carter.
