Japan's isolation came to an end in 1853 when Commodore Matthew Perry of the United States Navy, commanding a squadron of two steam ships and two sailing vessels, sailed into Tokyo harbor.
Japan's two-and-a-half-centuries of self-imposed isolation resulted in an increase in domestic trade and agricultural production. The shogunate imposed this policy of isolation in order to remove the colonial and religious influence of Spain and Portugal.

Following Pearl Harbor, the United States declared war on Japan, and entered WWII. After Germany was defeated, the United States dropped two nuclear bombs on Japan; one at Hiroshima, one at Nagasaki. Following this, Japan surrendered and WWII ended.
Commodore Matthew Perry negotiated the Treaty of Kanagawa in 1854, which opened Japan to trade with the United States. This treaty marked the end of Japan's period of isolation and established diplomatic relations between the two nations. It allowed for limited trade and the establishment of American consulates in Japan, paving the way for further interactions in the following years.

The Dutch were the European power that controlled the trading post of Nagasaki during the Edo period in Japan. They established a presence in the city in the early 17th century and were allowed to trade exclusively with Japan, following the policy of sakoku, or national isolation. The Dutch operated from Dejima, a small artificial island in Nagasaki Bay, which became the sole point of contact between Japan and the outside world for over two centuries.
It is called temporal isolation. Temporal isolation is a type of reproductive isolation where two species reproduce at different times, thus preventing them from mating and producing offspring together.
That would be geographic isolation and reproductive isolation. Both could lead to speciation.
