The English wealthy ate a breakfast of gruel or porridge along with fried meat, muffins

bread and butter. Often cooked by hired french chefs.

The poor ate pooridge if lucky with potatoes and butter.

Cakes, bread butter and cheeses were popular. Vegtables were very limited -potatoes,cabbage and turnips. These kept for long periods in the 1750's there was no refrigeration. I saw mention of a menu for a blackberry pie.

Since there was no refrigeration most farmers killed all their livestoock at the beginning of winter, providing food for the animals to eat during the winter was a very difficult task. Some people would have small ponds to raise carp and other fish to eat. Alot of meat was salted to preserve for the winter months. The women cooked in large iron pots. The biggest meal was eaten in the middle of the day. Men would hunt for pheasants, wild boar so game of all kinds. The women would then cook the meat making meat pies, stews and soups.

The evening meal usually consisted of cold meat, cheeses, and bread.

They drank the popular cup of tea but the majority of england drank beer at every meal. Another drink was mead, a fermented honey drink, oh and lets not forget milk for sheep, goats and cows.

During the 1750's is when England obtained India and when this happened the Indian people brought their spices.
